Gold Medal Accounting Pty Ltd is a registered tax agent with the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB). We are bound by the TPB Code of Professional Conduct, which sets out the ethical and professional standards expected of all tax practitioners in Australia.
Overview of the Code Changes – Effective 1 July 2025
The updated TPB Code introduces eight additional obligations designed to:
• Promote transparency and accountability
• Increase public confidence in the tax profession
• Strengthen the integrity of the tax system
Key New Obligations
· Upholding and Promoting Ethical Standards: We actively promote ethical conduct within our profession.
· Avoiding False or Misleading Statements: We do not make false or misleading representations in any communication.
· Managing Conflicts of Interest and Confidentiality: We manage potential conflicts, including in government-related work, and maintain strict confidentiality.
· Proper Record-Keeping: We maintain accurate and complete records of all tax agent services.
· Supervision and Quality Management: We ensure all team members are appropriately supervised and maintain competency under our Quality Management System (QMS).
· Keeping Clients Informed: We keep clients informed of matters that may affect their tax or BAS obligations.
· Implementing a Quality Management System (QMS): As a registered company, we operate a documented QMS suited to our firm’s size and complexity.
· Disclosure of Significant Matters: We disclose significant matters such as tax offences or prior convictions where relevant.
